The National Nurse-Led Care Consortium is excited to announce a new AmeriCorps State Program to support the recruitment, training, and development of a new generation of public health leaders to support behavioral health service programs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
NNCC's AmeriCorps members will serve in the community to learn how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the utilization of behavioral health services and establish a catalogue of local resources. These members will expand the capacity for organizations to refer individuals for substance use disorder and mental health treatment and identify critical services needed in response to the ongoing pandemic.
AmeriCorps members will gain public health and social work skills to respond to the increased need of behavioral health services in Philadelphia. This opportunity will build a pipeline of experienced public health professionals to lead successful treatment programs. This will expand infrastructure in Philadelphia, so organizations can respond effectively to vulnerable Philadelphia residents during crises.
NNCC is currently seeking partnerships with universities and relevant certification programs to recruit students interested in gaining hands-on experience in public health and social services.
NNCC is also looking for healthcare and community-based organizations in Philadelphia offering behavioral health services that need support through placement of these AmeriCorps members.
