Advancing Health Equity: Creating a Patient-Centered Culture of Care

Jan 18, 2024  03:00 PM  EST | Past Webinars |

Session 2 of the four-part learning collaborative had us delving into the significance of patient-centric care. We explored how it can positively influence various aspects of healthcare, such as improved communication, trust, and a deeper understanding of patients' needs, preferences, and values. Our guests highlighted how when patients feel listened to, respected, and actively engaged in their healthcare decisions, they are more inclined to adhere to treatment plans, leading to better overall health outcomes. This approach helps minimize disparities in healthcare access and outcomes by ensuring that healthcare is culturally sensitive and inclusive and catering to the diverse needs of different populations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define patient experience and how it differs from patient satisfaction
  • Identify how patient experience can inform quality improvement plans
  • Explain how an interprofessional team can improve the patient’s experience and satisfaction.
