This presentation will provide information about current national trends in adult and youth mental health occurrences, highlighting where the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact. The speakers will discuss self-care practices for nurses and will cover strategies to address vaccine-related anxiety from a mental health nursing perspective. Finally, they will provide an overview of the recently-activated National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. This webinar is part of our Nurse-Led Forum on Vaccine Confidence.

During the pandemic, misinformation about COVID-19 and the vaccine made pandemic management even more challenging. Misinformation was the primary reason for COVID vaccine hesitance. This two-part series highlights the relationship between health literacy and medical misinformation and the factors influencing a person's vulnerability to misinformation. Participants practiced communication skills to address the misinformation and facilitate healthy behaviors.

Lacey Eden is a Family Nurse Practitioner who has worked in pediatric clinics for 11 years. Lacey was inducted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and honored with the Daisy Nurse Leader Award in Policy. She was also recognized as a CDC Immunization Champion in 2017 and received the NAPNAP Shuren Grassroots Award for her work on immunization policy in Utah. In this webinar, Lacey will discuss common vaccine concerns and policy-level vaccine uptake strategies. Attendees will be able to ask questions in a panelist discussion following her presentation. Session one provides an overview of the disability population (U.S.) and introduces a person-centered approach to care for persons with disabilities. Common barriers to disability inclusion and participation are described (according to the World Health Organization) and barriers to inclusion of people with disabilities in the COVID-19 response are highlighted.
