Food Access

When Sera began her new job, the County Assistance Office shut off her Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits due to missing paperwork, which Sera believed she submitted. Sera’s family was left without food to last them through the month while awaiting their first paychecks. Sera’s home visitor supported her with applying for benefits, FAIR assisted the home visitor in identifying another support program that gave the client funds to buy groceries.

Child Health and Wellness Needs

As a parent of two children, Tanchanika initially believed she could manage everything on her own without assistance. But one day, she found herself in urgent need of diapers, and her home visitor, although unable to directly assist, was able to connect her with the FAIR project. In a remarkably short span of time, Tanchanika found herself confiding about her challenges. Not only did FAIR provide diapers and wipes for her son, but they also facilitated the acquisition of a trampoline and table set to support her son’s sensory input and developmental progress. And the kindness extended beyond that - FAIR helped them put food on the table, acquire a car seat, and ensured her son had his uniform for high school.

Utility Help

Ronnda’s air conditioner died during the hottest summer days of 2024. Her hours at work had been cut, she was in financial debt and still trying to pay off student loans. Her three kids lived with me, and their father wasn’t paying his child support. With no spare money and not even a fan to cool off with, she contacted the PECO fund but never heard back from them. She was then referred to FAIR.

Stable Housing

Shayna had one child, was pregnant with her second, and was living in a shelter when FAIR was put in contact with her. She had found suitable housing, but needed help with the move-in costs. The FAIR team stepped in and helped finance her move, successfully transitioning Shayna from a shelter into permanent housing before the birth of her second child.

The FAIR Project

Through your generous support, FAIR can continue providing free civil legal aid and concrete goods assistance to low-income pregnant and parenting families across Philadelphia. Your donation helps us strengthen families and create lasting positive change for some of our city’s most vulnerable parents and children. The stories detailed below are just some examples of the ways FAIR is able to positively impact the families we serve.

Monthly Donations

Reoccurring or monthly donations are regular donations that allow you to make smaller gifts throughout the year. Choose a monthly amount from the dropdown menu.

One-Time Donations

One-time donations make a big impact and are greatly appreciated. You may make a credit card donation using the button below.
