Addressing the Needs of Nurses of Color: COVID-19 and the Fight for Health Equity

Aug 20, 2021  01:00 PM  EST | Past Webinars |

Examine the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on front-line nurses of color and the critical need to support the healthcare workforce now and long term. Learn from Phoenix Matthews, PhD, Associate Dean for Equity and Inclusion Professor of Clinical Psychology at University of Illinois at Chicago, and their research in understanding and intervening on the factors associated with health inequalities among socially marginalized populations. We explored the compounded challenges nurses are facing in the healthcare space and community, including grief, institutional racism, and burnout. Participants gained a deeper understanding of short- and long-term implications of COVID-19 for nurses of color and strategies to promote resilience and recovery. This webinar is part of NNCC's Nurse-Led Forum for Vaccine Confidence series.
