Empowering Communities: How Community Health Workers Drive Equity in Early Breast Cancer Detection and Treatment

The National Nurse-Led Care Consortium held a 60-minute webinar exploring the unique and essential role of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in advancing equity in breast cancer screening and treatment linkage. This session equipped health center staff and healthcare professionals with the knowledge and strategies to leverage CHWs’ expertise in promoting equitable breast cancer care.

Participants learned how CHWs reduce health disparities by guiding individuals through screening, providing community outreach, and facilitating timely treatment connections. The webinar also addressed how CHWs use their cultural competence to meet underserved populations' specific needs, helping improve access to care and achieve health equity goals.
