Michelle Woods, RN, CDE, MSN-NP, ND, a nurse practitioner for diabetes and adjunct senior lecturer at the University of Tasmania presents her research on the role of the human gut microbiome and its interrelationship with different disease states, specifically diabetes.

Objectives include:

  • Understand the interplay of physiologic factors contributing to poorly controlled diabetes
  • Apply a comprehensive evidence based approach to the management of patients presenting with poorly controlled diabetes
  • Apply antibiotic sparing strategies, as a means of decreasing antibiotic utility, contributing to antibiotic stewardship
