In December 2020, the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium partnered with the Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to offer Respiratory Protection Awareness Trainings for New York health centers. The training materials are now available for public use. On this page, you can access the training slides, recordings, Respiratory Protection Program Toolkit, and FAQs.

The Respiratory Protection Awareness Training for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) provides a comprehensive overview of Respiratory Protection Program requirements, considerations for employee training and fit testing procedures, as well as documentation requirements for the same. By the end of this training, health center staff will:

  1. Improve their understanding of and ability to implement a respiratory protection program at their health center
  2. Gain confidence in their knowledge of fit testing procedures
  3. Increase their awareness of available fit-test resources.

Level 1 - Introductory - This training is appropriate for staff who have previously received little or no training in respiratory protection and/or your FQHC does not have an existing respiratory protection program. By attending this session, you will have an overview of the importance of a respiratory protection program and the tools needed to develop and implement a protocol at your FQHC

Level 2 - Advanced - This training is appropriate for staff who are familiar with respiratory protection program requirements and/or your FQHC has an existing program. By attending this session, you will be given a refresher of the importance of a respiratory protection program, be able to identify successes or gaps in your program, and develop plans to improve it.
