COVID-19 and Vaccine Confidence

Nurses are the most trusted healthcare professionals in America, consistently rated highest in the country for their honesty and ethics. Not only do nurses play a vital role in the administration of vaccines, they are also essential for building vaccine confidence and trust. When nurses recommend a vaccine, their patients listen.

From 2021 to 2023, NNCC operated the Nurse-Led Vaccine Confidence Project, a national cooperative agreement funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to build and reinforce vaccine confidence among nursing providers, non-clinical health center staff, and the patient community. Our project goals included:

  • Providing the information clinicians needed to speak with members of their care team and their patients about COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Providing learning opportunities to hear from experts on up-to-date guidance, share experiences with nursing colleagues, and strengthen the nursing role.
  • Elevating the nursing voice by featuring everyday nurse champions.

TCPI Power Packs

TCPI Power Packs

As the only professional nursing organization involved in the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPI) we were part of a collective of 10 professional associations charged to assist over 140,000 clinicians in improving how care is delivered by providing technical assistance support for integrating quality and process improvements, and by building on and spreading existing change methodologies, practice transformation tools, published literature, and technical assistance programs.

In collaboration with other SANs we developed a number of Power Packs to spread the transformational work undertaken by clinicians and practices nationally.

Each Power Pack presents a specific service delivery challenge and the steps taken by the spotlighted practice to address the challenge. Power Packs provide a set of change tactics and resources from the SANs and other professional associations that clinicians can use to address a similar challenge within their own practices.
