The Pennsylvania Nursing Workforce Coalition (PA-NWC), a program of the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium (NNCC), is thrilled to announce its new collaboration with the Geisinger School of Nursing to address nursing faculty and instructor shortages by creating Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academies (NEPQR-CFPAs). The collaborative is executing the program with funds awarded by the U.S Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), CDFA#93.359.
The purpose of the NEPQR-CFPA is to take steps to fill the faculty/instructor gap in schools of nursing and increase nursing workforce retention by leveraging staff nurses to participate as skilled preceptors and clinical instructors. The PA-NWC and Geisinger, alongside numerous academic and health system partners, are building academic-clinical-community partnerships that develop and implement comprehensive and self-guided nurse education training curricula. The project is focusing on HHS Region 3 (including Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.) to build a formal nurse education training curriculum to train clinical faculty and preceptors.
Click here to learn more about the NEPQR-CFPAAs the only professional nursing organization involved in the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPI) we were part of a collective of 10 professional associations charged to assist over 140,000 clinicians in improving how care is delivered by providing technical assistance support for integrating quality and process improvements, and by building on and spreading existing change methodologies, practice transformation tools, published literature, and technical assistance programs.
In collaboration with other SANs we developed a number of Power Packs to spread the transformational work undertaken by clinicians and practices nationally.
Each Power Pack presents a specific service delivery challenge and the steps taken by the spotlighted practice to address the challenge. Power Packs provide a set of change tactics and resources from the SANs and other professional associations that clinicians can use to address a similar challenge within their own practices.
