COVID-19 Update from the Nurse-Led COVID Vaccine Confidence Project

Starting November 2020, the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium (NNCC) is hosting 25 AmeriCorps state members, who will be part of the Commonwealth Civilian Coronavirus Corps. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) has identified contact tracing as the most critical component in the city of Philadelphia’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. NNCC is partnering with PDPH to train AmeriCorps members to support contact tracing and provide quarantine and isolation outreach throughout Philadelphia, PA.

In addition to contact tracing, AmeriCorps members will be conducting outreach for COVID-19 education in underserved communities with Public Health Management Corporation and food collection and distribution with the Share Food Program. NNCC AmeriCorps members will receive a well-rounded service experience as well as gain professional skills in various COVID-19 disaster response efforts. Through this AmeriCorps program, Philadelphia residents will have an increased knowledge of how and where to isolate, how to quarantine safely, and how to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The AmeriCorps members will encourage Philadelphians to develop a more positive attitude towards contact tracing and join together to maintain the health and safety of their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Funding for this essential project is provided by PennSERVE, the Pennsylvania state service commission.
