NNCC Statement on Racism, Antisemitism, and Violence

As we witness yet another targeted wave of hate crimes across the country, we would like to acknowledge the violent effects of white supremacy on our society—in recent surges in antisemitic violence, a continued prevalence of anti-Asian hate crimes, and the ongoing harm and inequity inflicted on Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC) every day.

Racism is a public health crisis. Hate is a public health crisis. Violence in our communities is a public health crisis. It is imperative that the nursing world reckons with our role upholding white supremacy and recommit ourselves to its dissolution.

Because of the importance of this conversation in the work for health justice and liberation, the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium and the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers is making the Keynote Conference Session of our June 8-10 conference, "Confronting and Dismantling Structural Racism: The Role of Nursing," free and open to the public. We hope that we can continue to foster spaces that confront and challenge white supremacy in healthcare, and look forward to your collaboration with us in that effort.
