In 2016, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services finalized a rule requiring federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) to establish an emergency plan for their patients and providers. To comply with this rule and foster a culture of preparedness, FQHCs must take inventory of their current plans and procedures, consider their patients’ unique needs during an emergency, and equip staff with tools and resources to respond appropriately at all stages of an emergency. This learning collaborative was conducted in partnership with the Massachusetts League of Community Health Center and the Community Health Care Association of New York State and provided health centers with tools to build a culture of preparedness for their patients and staff.
Testimonials
I really enjoyed the Building a Culture of Preparedness learning collaborative. I felt this prepared our organization better, than just reading the requirements. Great discussions and examples really helped us out, by pushing forward to an all hazards approach. Thank you.
